This year’s nominees for the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards are largely dominated by indie sensations led by Lawrence Kan’s In Broad Daylight <白日之下> and Nick Cheuk’s Time Still Turns the Pages <年少日記>. The former scored a whopping 16 nominations while the latter nailed 12 nominations.
Speaking of 12 nominations, the big-budget crime drama The Goldfinger <金手指> received the same numbers as well. The long-missed Milkyway-produced crime thriller Mad Fate <命案> collected 11 nominations while the highest-grossing HK$115-million local film, A Guilty Conscience <毒舌大狀> landed a total of 10 nominations.
